Public Awareness Campaigns

Another Life Foundation (Alifef) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Alifef was founded in 2004 to offer services to individuals battling with mental illness and suicidal behaviors.

Our services include public speakers, minority mental health professional resources, educational services, public awareness campaigns, and health equity advocacy programs. 

 

  • Our mission is to promote wellness, empowerment, and support to save lives and reduce suicidal behaviors by educating the public, raising awareness, providing support and advocating for health equity policies that affect people with mental illness.

  • Our focus is "Mental Health is Wealth" and mental wellness.

 

Another Life Foundation participates in various public awareness campaigns:

  • May is Mental Health Awareness Month- Observed since 1949, Mental Health Month reaches millions of people through the media, social media, local events and screenings. We welcome other organizations to join us in spreading the word that mental health is something everyone should care about. In the past years, we have used social media posts as a public awareness tool. And we have also displayed mental health awareness books, for the full month of May at local libraries. To raise awareness about mental health. 

  • July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month- Observed since 2008, Bebe Moore Campbell the author, lobbied to make July the official month for Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. We welcome other organizations to join us in promoting public awareness of mental illness and enhancing public awareness of mental illness and mental illness among minorities.

  • September is National Recovery Month- Observed in September, SAMHSA sponsors Recovery Month to raise awareness and knowledge of mental and substance use disorders and salute the individuals who have recovered. We welcome other organizations to join us providing a platform for those in recovery to share their stories.

  • September is National Suicide Prevention Month- Observed in the month of September to raise awareness of suicide prevention. We welcome other organizations to join us in reaching out and educating the public about suicidal behaviors and it treatment services. In the past years, we have used social media posts as a public awareness tool. We will also contact several states to announce that September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. And we will apply for an official Proclamation for this month.      

  • September is National Suicide Prevention Week- Observed since 1975, NSPW awareness events are held throughout the week corresponding to World Suicide Prevention Day. For the year 2018, it is the week of September 9 – 15, 2018. We welcome other organizations to join us in informing and proving resources for those affected by suicide, or those who have attempted suicide.

  • September is World Suicide Prevention Day- Observed since 2003, WHO co-sponsors this event and have held this day, September 10 as World Suicide Prevention Day. We welcome other organizations to join us in raising awareness that suicide is preventable, improving education about suicide, and spreading information about suicide awareness.

  • October is National Bullying Prevention Month- Observed since 2006, National Bullying Prevention Month unites communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. We welcome other organizations to join us in reaching out and raising awareness, and providing activities, education, and awareness building for the entire month.

  • October is Mental Health Awareness Week- Observed since 1990, congress has officially established the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), October 7 - 13, 2018. We welcome advocates to come together to sponsor activities, large or small, to educate the public about mental illness.We will also contact several states, to announce that October 7-13, is Mental Health Awareness Week. And we will apply for an official Proclamation for this week.  

  • October is World Mental Health Day- Observed in the month October, WHO sponsors this event and have held this day, October 10 as World Mental Health Day. The objective of this day is to  raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.
